2022 Beginners’ Shotgun Clinics

Depending on how Covid19  Progresses, Beginner's Shotgun Clinics  can hopefully resume in 2022. 

Goal:  The goal of the shotgun clinics is to provide beginning shooters with an introduction to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to own and use a shotgun. 


Clinic Topics: Each hands-on clinic will run from 1-5 p.m. and will interactively teach:

  • Introduction to Shotgun Safety, Parts, and Operation

  • Introduction to Ammunition and the Fundamentals of Shotgun Shooting

  • Introduction to Shotgun Shooting at Straightaway and EASY Targets

  • Introduction to Shotgun Cleaning, Storage, and Training Opportunities

What To Bring:

  • Notepad, pen, highlighter

  • At least one shotgun (any caliber) and the owner’s manual

  • 3 Appropriate “dummy rounds” for the shotgun you are using

  • Eye and ear protection (prescription glasses are acceptable)

  • Shotgun cleaning kit with oils, solvent, and patches

  • $25 fee for student materials and range fee (cash only paid at range)

  • 25 rounds of factory ammo for your shotgun’s gauge (size #7.5, 8, 9)

  • Baseball cap, sunscreen, water, snack (optional)

*The range has three-20 gauge shotguns, ammo and cleaning supplies for participants that do not own a shotgun yet


Directions:  Take I-17 to I-40.  Head East on  I-40 for 15.5 miles to Winona exit #211.  Turn right on Forest Road 82.  Turn right on Forest Road 128.  Go 4.1 miles to Forest Road 128A.  Turn right and go 0.3 miles. Follow the signs to the Trap & Skeet Range.
